Bright Future Curriculum Philosophy
The Bright Future Learning Center Curriculum is based upon the belief that children learn best in a safe, nurturing and hands-on environment. We believe that learning is an active process between the teachers and the children. The teachers plan monthly activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children in the class; taking into consideration any special needs, interests and individual developmental levels. The activities are placed into the environment in order to give the children opportunities to make choices about which activities and materials they will use. Through the learning centers, the children have opportunities to play and work with other children, make choices, encounter consequences and negotiate social conflicts using appropriate language. The teachers extend these opportunities by stimulating the children’s knowledge through asking questions and making suggestions. Role modeling is demonstrated through these examples, therefore furthering language development and communication. The teachers work closely with the children while they are at play in order to respond quickly to each child’s needs. The teachers also support each child’s accomplishments by providing positive verbal encouragement while modeling respect, acceptance and empathy.
